EUR-Lex developments: 07/2019

Here are the main recent changes to EUR-Lex.

  1. The multilingual display is available on mobile devices, including most tablets in portrait orientation and some large phones in landscape orientation.
  2. The status of acts is now clearer: in the Document notice, immediately after the title and next to the ‘in force’ indicator and the information on the act’s status has been enriched as follows:
    • a) If an act is in force and has been amended, you will now find these additions:
      • a statement that the act has been amended
      • the latest consolidated version available in the language of the interface.
    • b) If the act is no longer in force, you will now find these additions:
      • the date when it ceased to apply ('end of validity')
      • a link to the repealing act
      • a statement that the act has been changed
      • a link to the latest consolidated version.
  3. New link between active and archived summaries of EU legislation. Archived summaries (those summarising documents which are no longer in force or no longer reflect the current legal situation) now display a link to one or more active summaries on the same subject if relevant.
  4. Different templates for special legislative procedures: there are now 2 different templates, one for each of the 2special legislative procedures:
    • European Parliament consent procedure (APP)
    • European Parliament consultation procedure (CNS)
  5. The internal procedure view
    • a) Commission internal procedures now include 2 new events and their reference date. In the Planning phase:
      • 'Initiative Planned', giving the dates for the planned initiative
      • 'Open public consultation planned', giving the period for which the consultation is scheduled.
    • In the Adoption phase and for delegated acts only:

      • 'Scheduled end of objection period': information on the period during which the European Parliament and the Council can object to a delegated act of the Commission.
      • Link to the Interinstitutional register of delegated acts, a Commission website showing when an internal procedure has resulted in the adoption of a delegated act.

    • b) The link to the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) internal procedure is now available from the associated interinstitutional procedure.
    • c) The link to the Better Regulation Portal is now more prominent.
  6. Inactive users will receive a more informative message about the treatment of their personal data after 3 months of inactivity.
